Artist Statement
Since 2002, I have developed a practice at the intersection of code, intangible heritage, and collective memory. Each work treats interaction as a material: the gesture, the rule, the protocol are aesthetic and political spaces.
Moroccan heritage is not a backdrop in my work — it is a source of formal knowledge. The zellige is an equation. The cart is an interface. The board game is a protocol. This work continues a conversation that began centuries ago, with different tools.
Works Presented
ZELLIGE ARTCADE
Generative web platform drawing on the mathematics of Moroccan zellige. Each session produces a unique composition in real time. Accessible without mediation — the audience participates immediately.

KOUTCHI — Memory in Transit
Haptic installation built around an authentic Moroccan koutschi cart. Pressure sensors (HX711), generative AI, 6 narrative stations. The visitor holds the reins and traverses a topography of migration.
→ Full description
DERB.EXE
Arcade cabinet reinventing Moroccan draughts. Procedurally generated rules, algorithmic Amazigh patterns. Two players face-to-face, as in a real derb (alley).
→ Full description
DATA RUG Protocol
Data-art device transforming real-time data flows into Amazigh-inspired digital rugs generated by p5.js/JavaScript. Each composition is unique and ephemeral.
→ Full description
THE WORD_BROKER
Installation exploring the circulation of words as commodities, the power of language in attention economies.
→ Full description
THE SCRIPT_MINER
A device for extracting meaning — text as resource, data as raw material of a narrative economy.
→ Full description
Medina CyberCity
Superimposition of urban temporalities: the medina as data infrastructure, ancient architecture reread through contemporary algorithms.
→ Full description
Breath of the Bosphorus
Presented at IDAF Istanbul 2025 — installation setting breath, body and geographical data in dialogue between two continents.
→ Full description
PhytoGraphies
Living organisms as sources of visual data. Intersection of biology, generative algorithms and graphic form.
→ Full description
Vortex de Mémoire
A living digital archive — collective memory as a vortex, not a chronological line.
→ Full description
Parametric Calligraphy
Arabic calligraphy algorithmically generated — each composition recalculates the rules of the letter according to changing parameters. Bridge between Islamic calligraphic heritage and computation.
